John prevailed in a terrific battle with Billy Johnson to win Friday evening's Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Road America.  For John and Matt Bell this was their first victory of the season in the No. 9 Stevenson Auto Group Chevrolet Camaro. Matt drove from 12th to 1st in six laps and turned the car over to John in the lead.  Following driver changes, the race turned into a dogfight between Billy Johnson and John. They ran side-by-side on several occasions - Bucknum made it three wide at one point -  John and Billy swapped the lead four times over the final 20 laps.

John's winning pass came on an aggressive pass in Turn 1. He managed to keep control and pull ahead in Turn 3.
